UFOs

Before the acronym got a government glow-up, they were just UFOs—unidentified flying objects—and America has been arguing about them since at least the 1947 Roswell press-release faceplant. Discs over deserts. V-formations over cities. Landing traces beside New Mexico arroyos. The classic era is messy, photographic, and full of characters.

High Strangeness keeps UFO and UAP as cousins on purpose. UFO is the cultural language of flaps, crash lore, and weekend skywatchers. UAP is the hearing-room dialect of FLIR clips and AARO PDFs. You can love both without pretending Project Blue Book and a 2020 DoD video release are the same animal.

Famous names still matter as waypoints: Lonnie Zamora in Socorro (1964). The Phoenix Lights mass sighting (1997) with Kurt Russell’s later on-record account of radioing a formation while flying.
